Watching the fine print for car rentals
February 7, 2009 7:29 am TravelI’m trying to get our arrangements in order for our upcoming trip to Spain. The air travel is booked (easyjet like before) and since we’re only going for a week I managed to shave off one of our suitcase hold baggage allowance charges. Funny thing about that: if you take off one bag, they increase the amount in weight for the one you are taking. We were at 20kg limit for each of two, but now that it’s only one bag we’ve got a 32kg limit for it! Anyway, so plane booked. Car is a little trickier. I’m going crazy over the fine print for the insurance excess fees and the wildly different amounts each car rental company charges. I finally used car rental discount codes and got a better price than through any of the stuff I was doing through the various sites on my own. Between saving on flights and now with the total cost of the car rental, I can actually afford to put petrol in the thing and explore!
