I have to be honest; history was not my favorite subject. My memory of it history is that is usually was about wars and battles; I liked to know about people and their lives. I couldn’t imagine their lives with the information we were given by instructors. Maybe we need story tellers, not teachers…But I was in Rome and history suddenly became alive for me. You are surrounded by it! Every morning, after leaving our dwelling, one of the quaint Rome hotels in the area, we would take a trip to the past. The Arch of Constantine didn’t just mark a battle, but the conversion of Constantinople to Christianity and the legalization of the religion .
