Yes, a backyard cottage is a great idea for those weekends when you want to hide away in your own little nook, yet don’t want to be too far away from home. Leave the kids in the house and sneak away to the cottage for a little romantic supper and night away from the kids. Most smaller construction projects like cottages are easy to get building permits from your local jurisdiction for (and are usually inexpensive), and can also be built without much professional assistance (unless you plan on building a monster cottage). The cost of building a simple two room cottage can be less than the cost of one week long vacation for two to a remote destination, meaning that forgoing just one trip to another city can build you a little slice of vacation right in your own backyard! Surely, that is a great idea!
