Home ownership allows me to build equity over time in my house; pay off my mortgage over time; deduct mortgage interest and property tax on my tax return and thus save my tax; live in a property that is much more comfortable than a typical apartment; have more incentive to contribute to local communities. None of the above can be achieved by renting an apartment. Home ownership of course comes with responsibilities and extra expenses. But these responsibilities and expenses can not be compared with the great feelings of coming back to my own house everyday after a stressful day at work, and seeing your own family under the roof of your own house.
