Apparently resveratrol is produced by plants when they are under attack by bacteria or fungi. It is a type of antibiotic that protects plants from parasites and sun damage. Plants such as red grapes contain resveratrol in their skin. Studies have shown that resveratrol has some importance. In some organism it has anti-aging effects and can prolong lifespan in some organisms. For example it prolonged the lifespan of yeast by 60%, flies and worms by 30%, and certain types of fish by 60%.
