What is a CPA equivlent in the UK
July 12, 2009 9:55 pm BusinessII was very surprised to find out that there is no licensing requirements for accountants in the UK. Some of the ones I talked to were not much more than bookkeepers. I did some research and discovered that the equivalent to our CPA is called a chartered accountant. To get classified as a chartered accountant you need 3 years of experience under the direct supervision of a fully qualified chartered accountant and you must also pass about 15 tough accounting test. Also just like our CPA’s there is a continuing education requirement. If you need auditing, financial reporting, taxation, personal finance, corporate finance, financial management and information technology then it is the chartered accountant that you want.
